Summer Nights

Lot's of fun and exciting things this summer! Enjoying my internship and nights out with friends.
I attended a lovely surprise birthday party arranged by the birthday girl's sister and cousins! The birthday girl assumed it was a dinner with her family, but once she stepped into the restaurant, a whole line of us friends greeting her :)
We went to Zutto, a Japanese restuarant in the Tribeca area. I had a sushi platter, tonkatsu ramen, and tried a seared salmon appetizer. The ramen's meat and broth was exceptionally delicious. The pork was just melt-in-your-mouth good. The broth was clear and flavorful. The raw fishes were very fresh and had a nice texture. The dinner was overall great but on the pricy side.

The next night, I met up with some friends I haven't seen in awhile. We checked out the Brindle Room, a small American restaurant/pub. The place felt intimate and service was good. I wanted to try their burgers but turned out it was an only lunch and brunch thing.
This steak tartar was delectable. It was seasoned and mixed to imitate salsa, thus the pairing of chips. I was taken aback and impressed with the fresh taste.
Had a penne dish with basil, parmesan, and tomatoes. This dish didn't stand out to me and probably shouldn't have order. There basil made it oddly spicy...
Lastly, the rib-eye steak was pretty good. This meaty dish could feed two-three people. It was such a comfort food with mashed potatoes and topped with onion rings and crispy kale. I liked the meat done medium and bits of crispy on the outside. Might come back again to try the lunch.

What's your summer food?

Mmm sounds like lots of ppl are going for Ramen these days!

Btw, I'm done university already. The "course" I just finished, is to obtain my accounting designation. So that means I officially have no more studying to do! Unless I choose to further study by doing something like MBA in the future =)
