In West Village is a difficult to find (due to streets running in diagonals) restaurant called Snack Taverna. We wandered our way and got a little lost around 4pm which was a random time. But this post is full of randomness :)
And because of the random timing, we also got the best customer service we could possibly get. We were the only ones in the restaurant.
The waiter was very nice and recommended some dishes.
We got veal meatballs: they matched well with the sour cream on the side. Also, the salad was fresh and delicious with a vinegar dressing.
and a Greek pie called Horta Boureki: inside were two kinds of cheese with currants and leeks. outside was a flaky crust. It was delicious and it could easily fill you up with the cheese. The farro salad under it was good too.
This small place is open from brunch till dinner. Pricing was reasonable and worth the try. It was a good idea to come here for my first taste of Greek cuisine.
