preparing...

for Chinese New Year woot! Bags of snacks and food are sitting around, waiting for it to be ransacked and eaten by ME. muhahaha...
And we're not even done shopping, we have tons more to buy this weekend as well.
I always look forward to Chinese New Year, it means tons of food...perfromances to watch in Chinatown...and money! Haha. It will be this Sunday which is also Valentine's Day. And I'm glad I have Monday off for President's Day so I can rest.

Every year, my mom brings out the decorated box to store candies and dried seeds. I like to eat the chocolates, and the dried melon seeds (?? the one in the middle).

(google)
We also buy 年糕 (sticky rice cake) and my dad fries it with eggs. My aunt makes turnip cakes and DELICIOUS 發糕 (prosperity cake) that I can never get enough of.

My aunt made us some lanterns out of the New Year red packets. Here's how to make one!
