Gelato making!

I had the great luck to learn how to make gelato! Gelato is, simply put, Italian ice cream. It's creamier than ice cream but contains less fat than the latter. Ice cream is churned with more air while gelato is less air. This class at Mia Chef Gelateria was two hours of making four flavors of gelato. The instructor or we were to call him EZ was welcoming and cracked a few jokes. We went through the science of making a gelato base and the different processes to flavor it.
(making the base)
There was a precision to making this dessert especially the ratio of ingredients and making sure there was no extra water that would make the freezing process go wrong. There were a good amount of students and we helped balance each others mishaps and miscalculations with ingredients. We combined all our mixtures into the machine to churn.
(adding final touches to make Snickers gelato)
In the end, the gelati all turned out delicious. The majority voted on the fig and tequila including me. The fig added texture that wasn't too rocky like ferror rocher (which tasted just like the chocolate treat) and yet also creamy with a hint of alcohol.
And we got to take them home!
