Cocoron Soba

Cocoron Soba is a cute place. There is the noodle bar that aligns around the kitchen and cute character mascots decorated on the menu. Eating soba there is as authentic as it gets in nyc. They also boast their healthy menu filled with protein and nutrients.
Cocoron serves hot/cold dipping-style soba. The soba is cooked separately from the broth. Every time you take a bite, you have to dip the soba into the broth and (supposedly) slurp it all in one breath. They also serve cold soba which is perfect for the summer. When you're done with the noodles, water is added to the broth to dilute the saltiness for you to drink. (The customer service was very good and don't be shy if you're unsure of how to approach soba.)

I had the stamina broth with meatballs and mushrooms and bamboo shoots. It tasted home-made and had rich pork flavor. The soba was cooked perfectly and had the elasticity that all noodle-lovers crave for. I'm building my courage to try the natto soba next (google up natto).
My friend had their croquette (fried potato balls) which were good but rather small.
Only cons are the odd location near Delancey station (that I never go to) and the restaurant is tiny. The bathroom is creepy...only people who have ventured there will understand.
