Russ & Daughters

Smoked salmon is one of the tops on my list of favorite foods. (But what isn't?...) And how can I resist Russ & Daughters?

What a shame I just found out about this place recently. When it's been a family-owned business passed down 4 generations! (This is from a booklet I took on the way out.)
They're well known for their smoked salmon/roe and other cured appetizers, but inside also has cheese and intricate chocolates. I was clueless how to order, but the man who served me was very friendly and funny. I ordered Norwegian smoked salmon on an onion bagel with loads of scallion cream cheese spread. I liked that the Norwegian lox was lightly salted and freshly cured. To give up my mouth smelling like seafood? So worth it.
But....honestly, just getting a lox and bagel isn't worth it. I had no idea when I was ordering that it came up to $8 somethings. And I wish he gave me more salmon.
However, that won't stop me. It's a better worth if you buy the seafood itself. All the kinds of lox they have are around $8-9 per pound. So it's a better worth to pick 1-2 kinds and I'm sure they'll give you a sample if you're not sure.
