(NEW) Kam Hing Coffee Shop
I stopped by here to get a milk tea and realized they went through a makeover. It used to look run-down but had a nice, vintage feel to it. Now the yellow-green tiles are replaced by light blue walls. It looks brighter when you step inside. The hispanic guys inside always amaze me with their Cantonese.
They're well-known for their oval-shaped sponge cakes. And I can't disagree, their famous cakes are so soft and literally melt-in your mouth. Moms of my friends buy two boxes because you can't just have one! And they're cheap!
Their drinks are pretty cheap too. They're not fooling you with cheap stuff. My milk teas are made with Tetley tea bags (which I prefer over Lipton) and a hot drink costs about 65 cents. Even in Chinatown that's hard to find...average is about 85-90 cents now.
They're located at Baxter Street. There isn't space for you to linger for more than 10 minutes but its been well and alive for very long time.
