Pop yo sushi

Today was my second time going to Japan Day. Lots of fun things to do. More pictures here.
They gave out free food which was mostly the main goal of going. There were senbei, noodles, miso soup, sushi, etc. The lines were crazy long and in the blazing summer heat. So me and company managed to get a bowl of udon. The udon was yummy and they added a slice a lemon for the zing. It never occurred to me that udon and lemon could go so well together. I'm going to do that next time I make udon for myself.
And we got the sushi popper:

More info here.
Personally, I found this a culture kill. Sushi should be bite-sized and something to savor as you eat it. I don't think sushi chefs would be thrilled so hear about this. To me, the sushi pooper is just an Americanized way to eat sushi. Something a bit too convenient, and very artificial. I cannot stop thinking about ice popsicles when I see these things. And it didn't make me feel any better when my sushi was only cucumbers and missing the artificial crabmeat!

But otherwise, Japan Day 2010, fun times.

udon is the best!
I've never seen that sushi popper thing but it doesn't look very appealing. I agree with you about the culture kill.
