(i freaked out when I found out I forgot my digicam)
Me and my friends went to a nearby Japanese restaurant...I just realized I didn't find out the name of the place!! :O We all ordered shrimp tempura udon and they shared a spicy tuna roll. Overall was 'meh' because the udon wasn't wonderfully made, a bit on the salty side and overcooked shrimp (but I was starving). Price wasn't cheap either...And I just find it weird when you put carrots and broccoli in udon?!!? Please keep the cultural food as authentic as possible....
Later on I had to meet up with my friend to give her my handmade items(more info here). It's for a charity flea market her church is holding. :)
I wanted to explore St. Mark's Place so we walked 28 streets down Manhattan?!....I have no idea how I did that in heels....
St. Mark's Place is this one street downtown where I would call Japantown because of its numerous Japanese restaurants lining up. It's a casual area where a lot of students are seen hanging out on a warm day. I found it funny how there are Red Mango, Pinkberry, and another frozen yogurt place on that one street. There are other cafes, and stalls that sell accessories. I think its my type of neighborhood where despite the crazy tattoo shops around, its comfortable to sit in the tables outside and chill.
We went to eat noodles at Udon West. It's a small and cozy japanese noodle bar. Most of the seats are aligned to the kitchen area, so you can watch the chefs cook your food.
Me: Kakiage Udon
I tried a piece of my friend's chicken cutlet, it wasn't that well-seasoned but they did a good job frying it.
Kakiage is a mixed tempura of various vegetables (onions, carrots, scallions) and shrimp.
The soup was good, a right amount of dashi in it. Udon was chewy and tempura was done well. There was the crunchiness and even when some of it was soggy from the soup it was still good. I'm going to complain about too little shrimp because I love shrimp :3 Happy with the price: $6.95 + tax. Wayyy better than the meal I had previously.
Japanese food all day? I can't get tired of it :D

We don't have a Japan-town. :( Japanese restaurants are hiding everywhere!
Mmmm now I'm hungry!
Haha, udon for lunch and dinner. That is made of win!
And I didn't know you made clay accessories! I saw your stuff and they're really cute. And btw, is your crystal swarovski? Cause I believe I have that same one (the little flower) !
