A plus was the birthday girl worked here, so we received some freebies from her loving employees. The above is a special part of I think a salmon and of high quality. It was very fresh and was put together with a tangerine and mint that made it tangy and started up my appetite. I was told that it was very expensive for one piece.
This was also a freebie, a tuna ceviche. Ceviche here meaning raw tuna marinated in a citrusy juice and accompanied by onions and fresh leaves. This was very good and all the ingredients worked well together.
I got myself a prix fixe dinner that started off with a tuna avocado salad. The tuna was sashimi cut and sat in a miso salad dressing along with greens placed on top. Also good but I wish there was more avocado to go with it.
We ordered some special rolls and shared. There was a crunchy salmon roll that I loved (on far left). It was sprinkled with crunchy fried toppings that went well with the salmon roll. Also on the other right side was also delicious - a deep-fried roll with a jalapeno for the extra kick.
The main of my set, SASHIMI PLATE. The presentation was huge, below all that fish was a block of ice. All of it was great, my favorite salmon was juicy fresh...also stood out to me was the mackerel (the one with skin) with a bit of ginger on top. However, I felt the fish was too thick...I'm getting my money's worth and all but it would've been better enjoyed if it was thinly sliced.
Celebrated with a birthday cake from Paris Baguette and birthday song :)
Momoya is a great place for your special occasions, they also have lunch specials during the day. The interior is beautiful and the wood plank textured walls are unique.
[I had a stomache after the meal...I can't pinpoint why because my friends who ate the same things were fine. But it was just so delicious that it won't stop me from coming a second time.]
However, during our time there the waiter was not being very cooperative. Although he knew our birthday girl, he was TOO casual in serving us by handling our cake in an unprofessional manner (too lazy to help us take the cake out of the box?). I don't even know how much he was tipped because I had to depart early but I would not want to give him any. Have you had those poor waiter/waitress experiences?

Glad you had a good time!
Unfortunately, there's always a few bad waiter experiences but luckily that doesn't happen too often.
